Refund an order
Give full or partial refunds through Stripe or PayPal from the order page, and record crypto refunds.
Refund from the order page
- Open the order in Orders.
- Under Actions → Refund, enter an amount, or leave it blank to refund the full remaining amount.
- Add an optional reason for your records.
- Click Refund via (payment method).
For Stripe and PayPal, the money is returned to the buyer automatically and the order updates when the provider confirms. Each refund is listed under Payments & refunds on the order.
Crypto refunds
Crypto can't be pulled back automatically. Send the refund from your Cryptomo dashboard, then record it on the order the same way. The order updates when the provider confirms.
What a refund changes
- The order becomes Refunded, or stays as it is with a partial refund listed.
- Store credit the buyer earned on that order is taken back.
- Delivered keys are not returned to stock automatically. If the key was never used, add it back to stock yourself.
Void instead of refund
If an order was never paid, use Void order instead. It cancels the invoice and releases any reserved stock.
Tip: a quick refund for a genuine problem is far cheaper than a chargeback, which costs a fee and counts against your account with the payment provider.
