Give Discord roles automatically
Grant a Discord role when someone buys, perfect for paid communities, VIP channels and memberships.
After paying, the buyer clicks Claim your Discord role on their invoice page, signs in with Discord, and gets the role in your server right away.
1. Create a Discord application
Go to discord.com/developers → New Application and give it a name.
2. Add a bot
Open Bot, click Add Bot, and copy the Bot token.
3. Invite the bot to your server
Under OAuth2 → URL Generator, tick bot, then the permissions Manage Roles and Create Invite. Open the generated link and add the bot to your server.
In Server settings → Roles, drag the bot's role above every role it should give out. Discord only lets bots give roles below their own.
4. Connect it to SellPass
- Under OAuth2, copy the Client ID and Client secret, and add the redirect URL shown in SellPass under Redirects.
- In Notifications & Discord → Discord role delivery, paste the Application (client) ID, Client secret and Bot token, plus your Default server (guild) ID. Turn on Developer Mode in Discord settings, then right-click your server → Copy Server ID.
- Tick Enabled, click Save and then Test bot token.
5. Choose the role per product
Open each product and fill in Discord role on purchase → Role ID (right-click the role → Copy Role ID). You can also set a different Server (guild) ID per product.
The order page shows Role granted to … once the buyer has claimed it.
Tip: combine roles with a subscription product to run a paid membership community.
