How to Accept Crypto Payments for Digital Products

October 2, 2026

Crypto is no longer a niche payment method for digital goods. Many buyers prefer it for privacy, because cards are hard to use where they live, or simply because they already hold stablecoins like USDT. Accepting crypto can open your store to buyers you would otherwise lose. Here is how to do it without the usual headaches.

Why digital sellers add crypto

  • Global reach. Buyers in countries with limited card access can still pay.
  • No card chargebacks. A confirmed on-chain payment cannot be reversed the way a card payment can.
  • Stablecoins remove volatility. USDT and other stablecoins keep prices steady in dollar terms.

The three problems to solve

Accepting crypto by posting a wallet address and checking it by hand does not scale. A proper setup has to handle:

  1. Matching payments to orders. Each order needs its own invoice and amount so you know who paid.
  2. Underpayments and late payments. Buyers send slightly too little because of network fees, or pay after the invoice expires.
  3. Confirmations. You should deliver only after the payment is confirmed on-chain.

How it works on SellPass

SellPass connects to Cryptomo, a crypto payment processor, using your own account and keys. When a buyer checks out:

  1. A crypto invoice is created for the exact amount, in the coin the buyer chooses.
  2. The order page shows the address and amount and updates itself while the payment confirms.
  3. Once it is confirmed, the order is delivered automatically on the page and by email.

The awkward cases are handled for you:

  • Partial payments wait for the rest instead of failing.
  • Late payments still complete the order if stock is available, or are flagged for you to deliver or refund.
  • Missed webhooks are caught by a background check that polls payment status, so no order is left stuck.

Because you use your own Cryptomo account, payments land with you, not with SellPass.

Offer crypto alongside card and PayPal

Crypto works best as one option among several. Connect Stripe and PayPal as well, and let buyers choose at checkout. You can even restrict specific products to specific payment methods, for example crypto-only for higher-risk items.

Setting it up

  1. Create a Cryptomo account and generate API keys.
  2. In your SellPass dashboard, go to Payment methods → Cryptomo and paste your public key, secret key and webhook secret.
  3. Every invoice tells Cryptomo where to send payment updates, so there is nothing else to configure. Run a test payment in test mode, then switch to live.

Pricing in crypto

Keep your prices in your usual currency. Each crypto invoice is created in that currency and Cryptomo works out the exact amount in the coin the buyer picks, so you never have to update prices when the market moves.
